#WCW Blake Von D

Our #WCW is Blake Von D, the 27 year old style blogger and full time law student. She is an inspiration to many 20something year old women trying to figure out who they are and where they are going. So this is what she had to say when we chatted to her (via email on Monday)...

Thesis Lifestyle: Who is Blake Von D?

Blake Von D: I like to describe myself as just a “regular girl.” In this day of social media and celebrity fan-craze, it’s so easy to get caught up in all the glitz and glam and feel like you don’t measure up. I (and thus my brand) am all about being and accepting your true authentic self—whether that be glamorous or not. The magic of that is… if you accept you, others will too! My motto is, “Love yourself and everyone else will get on board.”

TL:  For a person who doesn’t know how did you manage to make being a law student, Brand Ambassador and a blogger feed into one another?

BVD: I don’t know if, at this point, they do all feed together. But I think that’s beautiful and unique thing about my brand. So often we’re told we need to find that one thing we’re good at or that we love and stick to it. I’m more of a “Jane-of-All-Trades-Master-of-None” kind of girl. Jane of All Trades because there are so many things that I enjoy and feel I’m good at. Master of None, because I never want to stop learning and getting better at the things that interest me.

TL: Do you art and creatively direct the content that post on your blog, if so what or where do you draw inspiration from?

BVD: Yes, I created and direct all the content on my blog. Although, there are certainly days when I wish I had a few more hands on deck. As for inspiration, I typically post about my personal style and I draw the inspiration for my looks from my mood, my location, etc. Basically anything in my world.

TL:  If you are not blogging what are you doing? Like what is your typical day like?

BVD: I love my “me” time. So when I’m not blogging, I’m usually home alone watching a good documentary on Netflix.

TL:  You posted a picture you took from Thesis Lifestyle during the weekend, do you always travel? And why?

BDV: I don’t travel nearly as much as I’d like to. I’ve been in school for the majority of my life, so it was hard to take time off to travel. But now that I’m finished with school, I hope to travel a lot more

TL:  How has fashion helped to express who you are?

BVD: Fashion is art and--unlike words--has different meanings and interpretations for everyone. I love fashion doesn’t limit me. I can be tomboy chic one day and in an elegant ball gown the next and still feel like myself on both days. Fashion allows me to be who I want to be in the moment I want to be it.
